strange customs

April 10th, 2006

Back from some small holibobs and nothing much to report. World still turning, no new Doctor Who yet and slightly closer to Earth Death. Note to self: find way to disable ITV from being viewable on Sky. ITV News is just so annoying; reporting live from where a dead swan died over a week ago and setting up a Bird Flu Expert Trailer for callers to ask stupid questions like “Can I catch Bird Flu from a toilet seat?” This is reminiscent of ITV Premiership’s “Andy Townsends Analysis Van” which was just as stupid.

We flew to Norn Ireland and it was a perfect service from Easyjet; not bad at all for £4.98 return per person. We did have trouble was at security where George’s bag (a Shrek rucksack) was stopped and had to be checked for a suspect object. It turned out to be “Thunderbird 3″:http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~ajhs/hobbies/tbird3.html which is a bit long and a bit pointy and international terrorists could perhaps poke the pilot in the eye with it and thus bring the plane down.

Luckily the security officer decided that George was too small to reach up to the pilot’s eye, and let us through.

We were not so lucky on the return journey, where Emilia’s collection of small stones was confiscated. Emilia was assessed and it must have been decided that she could perhaps fashion a catapult from her hair bands and disable the crew.
