Brookmyre as a TV series
My favourite detective[1] author is getting a TV series spin-off series based on his first main character, Jack Parlabane. According to his forum’s, James Nesbit is booked for the role of Parlabane, which I think fits in well.
Meanwhile, there could be a film of “Tony Hawks”:http://www.tony-hawks.com/ skateboarding, erm, I mean fridge hiking exploits which would be excellent indeed.
[1] I say detective, but you can’t classify it as simply as that. Political, scottish, violent, terrorist, gun-weilding and damn funny detective stories would be closer.

“According to his forum’s, James Nesbit is booked for the role of Parlabane, which I think fits in well.”
I can see the casting meeting now:
“We need a Scottish actor.”
“Bill Paterson.”
“A sexy Scottish actor.”
“Ewan McGregor? Robert Carlyle!”
“A sexy Scottish actor still prepared to do TV. And no, Hamish Macbeth doesn’t count - it was years ago.”
“It’ll have to be James Nesbit then.”
I’m not a fan of Nesbit, and I struggle a bit with the image of him as somehow a bit of a handsome bastard (although I can see him as a journo), but I can’t think who else a tv company would go for. I’m mildly alarmed that you read Parlabane as well. I’m very behind on it - still not read ‘A Big Boy Did It and Ran Away’.

I’ve only seen Nesbit in two things and I don’t think he cut it as Tractor Tom.
I’m currently reading “Be Me Enemy”, only 10 pages in but it is typical Brookmyre style.
I don’t think you should be alarmed though, it was a mutual Scottish aquaintance (on a who mailing list) that got me into Parlabane in the first place.
