Upgrading to Opie 1.0 without a network
A simple easy way to upgrade to Opie 1.0 offline. I couldn’t get online because of a bug with the wireless implementation in 0.9.3. Hopefully. I hope it is fixed in 1.0. I can’t test until tonight.
The bug, in case you are not wondering, so I can bore you with it, is that the network applet does not accept the WEP key in any shape or form. Without WEP set, the connection was first time and worked like a dream. With WEP, I got nothing.

Is Opie actually better than the Sharp ROM? Is it worth me risking frying my Z to move to it?

It’s only about a thousand times better, but it has it’s bugs. It’s quite hairy for me cos I’m still learning unixy stuff, but I’d have thought you’d have no troubles.
It has had its bugs, but I think most seem to be ironed out by 1.0 and OZ 3.2.
I keep meaning to do a “how to upgrade to OpenZaurus and live to tell the tale” entry but never get of them tuits.
No Opera though on OZ. Not sure how good Opera is, but most websites look bad in Konquerer (except BBCi).
