Tourists and Taxis

BBC News | MIDDLE EAST | Backpackers baffled by Bethlehem siege

I love the taxi drivers potential role in this.

“They had been dropped off by a taxi at a checkpoint near Bethlehem and had made their way along streets torn up by armoured vehicles. ”

Maybe, it is different in Israel, but surely the conversation will have gone something like :-

“Where to guv?”
“Church of the Nativity, please.”
“Can’t take you directly there. I can drop you off nearby.”
“Okay”

Surely, he could have said something like
“You don’t want to go there. dodgy area that is”
