I spent the weekend shifting boxes. Our family seem to be a bunch of hoarders, be it books or toys. So the garage was previously full of stuff which I tried to clear in time for the garage to be knocked down. In the end, I shoved it all into the shed at the end of the garden.
Last week, I emptied the shed and brought all the boxes into the new playroom. No hiding it anymore. If it was in our way, we’d do something about it. And do we have. We now have 20 boxes of “stuff” to either ebay or take to a car boot sale. Some things have gone into the loft, but these are distinct long term value to us. Some things we are going into existing space like all the books Ryan and Jeannie got that will now go to Gabby. By Monday lunchtime I was knacked from moving something like 40 boxes from the top of the garden, into the house, then sorting through all the boxes (with the wife), putting boxes into the loft, stacking them up to sell.
We had a BBQ at a friends in the afternoon, and after a few beers was nearly falling asleep. Nothing nicer than being tired from exercise. My legs ache today though.
Well, what can I say. You don’t stand much of a chance as both D and I are hoarders and always have been. It’s so difficult to throw stuff away as you never know when it may be useful. How many times have I got rid of something and then wanted it later? So, well done, I’m surprised your arms and back don’t ache as well.
We’ve been trying to do the same and D has made a start on the shed nearest the house. We have been to the tip a couple of times already - more trips are planned, which reminds me that’s what we should be doing now!
By the way, is the playroom now the “Box Room”? When I was little our house had an official Box Room, but it had to become my bedroom, when my grandparents came to live with us.
I thought it was called a Box Room because it was about the size of a box, not that’s what you had to keep in there
Anyway, now I have a tidy shed, a tidy garden (mostly), a tidy playroom (just with lots of boxes for the car boot sale) and a tidy office (just with lots of boxes for ebay).
Two trips to the tip yesterday.
