The acts commenced on this ball of earth: Upon my tongues continual slanders ride,

  1. The Mother-in-law has landed

  2. 8 May 2002

(A backlog of diary entries; earlier entries will appear later)

The Mother-in-law (MIL) has come to stay. Osteniably, to help Gina look after George and Emilia, but if last time is any indication, it will be to sit around and drink tea and chat.

I'd only been home five minutes today before she got on my nerves, by boiling the kettle and then never making the coffee she offered me as I walked in. I had to stop playing with Emilia and make it myself (along with teas for Gina and The MIL) whilst she sat watching TV (complaining about what was on).

After Emilia had gone to bed, luckily I was able to escape to the bedroom. Unluckily, it was so that I could watch the football and watch Arsenal win the title (boo hoo!). A most depressing result. Where have Man United gone wrong? Four new defenders, a new goalkeeper, and a proper spare attacker is what is needed. Add to that Joe Cole and we'll be sorted.

When I came back down, George was finally asleep. You can tell he is a boy, all that demanding of milk and being very annoyed if you don't provide it in less than one second. Here's a picture of George in the only position he likes to sleep in. (Budda George, JPG, 111kb)

I was back at work fully for the first time today, and I wasn't prepared. A backlog of 700 emails, plus a load of work to do. Normally, if you go on holiday, you can prepare and hand off work or at least tell the customer's you'll be away. When I left suddenly, everything got put on hold, waiting for my return. Bah.

I wasn't thinking straight as well, and left my lights on in the car. When I came to leave I had a flat battery. Luckily, a friend just happened to be walking past and had a set of jump leads in his boot. Drove home without the stereo on just to make sure it recharged okay.
