The acts commenced on this ball of earth: Upon my tongues continual slanders ride,
This weekend my daughter and myself took on the hospitality of my parents. This was the first time that we'd gone away without my wife, so was a kind of mini-challenge.
In truth, everything went very smoothly. Emilia was on best behaviour (if as ever cheeky), slept through the night (twelve hours), ate well and didn't break anything, hurt herself or cry exessively.
She did, however, make a number of phone calls using the loudspeaker and redial buttons, put sticky fingers on my Dad's widescreen telly, throw roast chicken all over the dining room, forced my parents to watch the Telletubbies (not really, but it was fun) and had both grandparents action her ever whim.
She certainly missed her mother, as displayed when we got home on Sunday. Big hugs.
As a trial run for her staying by herself, it was a big success and my parents certainly want to do it. The crazy fools!

Just last month I took my partner and her/our eight year old to meet my family. Emily has my parents eating out of her hand. The only down point was that she wouldn't go with my suggestions to call them grandma and grandpa. She wouldn't believe me when I told her that mum and dad would aboslutely love that. Ah well, she knows all my tricks now.

It is 3am and the only way George will sleep is if I continually walk up and down the living room at a consistent and slow pace. (1)
