The acts commenced on this ball of earth: Upon my tongues continual slanders ride,
I looked after Emilia all day today as Gina was doing two day shifts. No problems, except for the delivery of lunch and dinner. Let's face it, I can't cook, and Emilia knows it. I also have little patience and patience is what you need when it comes to feeding a toddler. Patience and a food shield.
I enjoyed creating some Lego space ships for her later, bringing back childhood memories. Boy, was I good at Lego spaceships. The Lego I used today was a little larger than I was used too, and I didn't have any of those huge base boards you need for proper construction. Emilia had even more fun, tearing them apart.
The only comment Gina made when she got home was that all of Emilia's toys were out. Surely, I could have restricted what she played with. Or put it away when we'd finished. Hey, I was having too much fun for that. She had a point. There wasn't much carpet showing and the Lego was dispersed over a rather large area.
In the evening, Maggie came over to babysit, and we went to Lee's 30th birthday party. Whilst no longer icy, the roads looked dangerous as it was foggy. Gina was not keen on driving.
There we met Lee who was very, very drunk. Falling over and slurring at 8pm does not bode well. Amazingly, he was still going strong at the end, and seemed slightly less drunk. I saw a number of people from my old work place, Kavanagh, but none of my team. Lee explained that they had all been made redundant and my boss sacked. I had told them that this had been likely, and was the reason I had left. I had seen it coming. I'm not normally one to laugh when I hear that someone has been sacked, but my old boss is one exception. An ex-salesman, who blagged his way to the position, and didn't know anything. He lied to get me to join the company in the first place, and only managed to get me one contract to work on by lying to that customer.
Hopefully, I'll see Lee soon and he'll be more sober and he can tell me the full story.
